Leading UX for the Launch of a Consumer Video Ecosystem

As UX Lead for 360fly, I directed the design of a comprehensive digital ecosystem to support the launch of their revolutionary 360-degree action camera. For over two years, I worked embedded within their product team to create a united user and customer experience across mobile, web, and eCommerce platforms.


Problem

360fly had created groundbreaking hardware, but needed a digital ecosystem worthy of the innovation. The product required complex technical integrations including Bluetooth pairing, hardware registration, and interactive 360° video playback, all delivered through native mobile apps, web platforms, and eCommerce systems. With only months until launch, I needed to lead the design effort across multiple platforms while ensuring every touchpoint felt intuitive and cohesive. The real challenge wasn't just designing individual features, but orchestrating a unified experience across iOS, Android, desktop, and web that would make technology feel effortless to users.

Solution

I led the design and development of 360fly's complete digital ecosystem, creating a unified experience that made revolutionary technology feel intuitive and accessible. By embedding myself within their cross-functional teams and participating in daily standups with product, engineering, marketing, and management, I was able to unify design decisions across multiple platforms while adhering to technical constraints and business requirements.

Leading Mobile UX

For the mobile apps, I focused on removing friction from the user journey. I designed an onboarding flow that guided users from unboxing to their first 360° capture in minutes, transforming what could have been a technically daunting setup into an intuitive experience. The Bluetooth pairing system removed complexity, while account setup and hardware registration felt simple. Throughout, I prioritized showcasing the camera's immersive capabilities, designing video playback experiences that let the technology speak for itself.

Architecting the Web Platform

On web and desktop, I worked closely with engineering to improve eCommerce functionality, ensuring discovery and purchasing flows we're intuitive. The account and community features were designed to connect users and elevated their content, while the scalable architecture planned for rapid growth of content.

Facilitating Cross-Functional Alignment

My leadership extended beyond design deliverables. I facilitated alignment between marketing, product, and engineering teams, translating business requirements into user-centered solutions and technical constraints into opportunities. By maintaining open communication channels and participating actively in sprint planning, I helped accelerate decision-making and kept the entire ecosystem moving toward launch.
